Every Sunday after the church service, Mr. Advay Awale leads our Sunday School, a time dedicated to nurturing the faith of our youngest members. Proverbs 22:6 instructs us to “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” In line with this biblical mandate, our Sunday School program is designed to instill a strong foundation of faith in our children.
The program includes:
– Bible-Based Songs: Children sing songs that are rooted in Scripture, helping them memorize and internalize God’s Word through music. As Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
– Biblical Stories: Children learn important stories from the Bible that teach them about God’s love, His promises, and how to live according to His Word. These stories are brought to life in a way that is engaging and relatable for young minds, following the example of Deuteronomy 6:7, which encourages us to “Impress [God’s commandments] on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
– Church Doctrine: Part of the Sunday School curriculum includes teaching the children about the basic doctrines of our church, helping them understand the language and principles that define our faith community. This aligns with 2 Timothy 1:13-14, which says, “What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”
– Interactive Activities: To reinforce the lessons, the children participate in activities that help them understand and remember the stories and teachings. These activities are designed to be fun and educational, fostering a love for learning about God’s Word. As James 1:22 reminds us, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
Children love their time in Sunday School, and they especially appreciate the dedication and care of their teachers, who are committed to their spiritual growth. We invite all children to join us each Sunday to learn, sing, and grow in their faith together.
